Merry Christmas

For those who are still thinking about school and ICT and have come to take a peek - Kia ora and a very Merry Christmas.

Jamie McKenzie has an excellent site on ICT in Education http://www.fno.org/ and is a regular visitor to New Zealand. I love his emphasis on questioning techniques. Also check out his SLAM DUNK lessons. They are an awesome way to get information literacy and inquiry learning happening in your classroom.
Have a great holiday and be safe and healthy.

The Ministry has released a draft for An (e)learning framework for the schools sector. Go and have a look to see their startegies for ICT integration into schools. http://www.minedu.govt.nz/index.cfm?layout=document&documentid=10639&data=l

If you require some assistance with planning your ICT intiatives for next year please drop me a line as soon as possible so we can make a planning date for early on in term 1. Perhaps we can audio or video conference through SKYPE. A free bit of software that is so easy to use - check it out http://www.skype.com

Internet use in schools

The latest ICT in Schools Report from the 2020 Trust has just been released and confirms the pattern that has been emerging over previous years. According to this report, 100% of all our schools now have access to the internet, with computer to student ratios of 1:5 in our primary schools and 1:4 in secondary.

Nati Awards

Kia ora all!
Working hard over the next couple of weeks to get out all of the Nati Awards entries onto DVD.
They will be available to all schools soon and probably a copywrite version available to all for private and education use. Will keep you informed.
